Shorthanded 'Roos Salvage Split, Honor Seniors with Victory Over Hawks

(Kansas City, Mo.) - UMKC women's tennis had to play without, No. 1 player Dimitra Stavrianakou, but salvaged a spit on Wednesday at the Plaza Tennis Center, falling 7-0 to Saint Louis, before taking out Rockhurst on Senior Night, 5-2.
UMKC (8-10) saw its school record six-match home winning streak come to an end against the Billikens (9-4), dropping both the No. 1 and No. 3 doubles matches, before falling in straight sets at each singles position.
The 'Roos rallied in the nightcap, where they honored both the seniors, Maddie Schulte and Amelie Amsallem. Both picked up key singles victories, and Schulte's win at No. 1 made it a 4-1 score and clinched the team win.
UMKC won the first two doubles matches at No. 2 and 3 to clinch that point, and never trailed again.
UMKC will head to Phoenix this weekend to complete WAC play, facing Seattle and UTPA.
