Track & Field Finish Up the Weekend at Wichita

(Wichita, Kan.) – On Friday and Saturday, the Kangaroos competed at the KT Woodman Classic hosted by the Wichita State Shockers. There were twelve Kangaroos who finished in the top three of their event, while five managed to earn spots in UMKC's top five all-timers.
Running in the distance races on Friday was Sarah Fogarty in the women's 1500-meter run. Fogarty finished in third place running a career best of 4:40.15—second in UMKC history and third in the WAC.
Also competing on Friday was Brooke Guiot and Hanna Miller in the women's 800m. Guiot completed the laps in 2:16.40 (second place) while Miller completed the race in 2:24.12 (eighth place). Each of these times were season bests, Guiot's ranks fourth in the WAC.
For the men's 800m, Taylor Wardall came in fourth place crossing the finish line at 1:56.08—a career best and ninth in the WAC.
In the 10,000-meter run, Megan Mills with great pace crossed the finish line in second place, running the race in 38:03.46 minutes.
On Saturday, Kamaya Tucker qualified for the 100m finals and finished with a career best—12.00 seconds to take fifth place. Her time ranks fourth all-time in the UMKC record books. For the men's side, Daniel Prioleau placed tenth but did break the school record with this career time of 10.62 seconds.
Kamaya Tucker also ran in the 200m finals where she came in fifth place having a career best time of 24.89 seconds.
Chantel Bethune went at it again in the women's 400m, taking a first place finish with her time of 56.79 seconds, as Briana Carter followed in second with 57.07 seconds.
Attacking the 100-meter hurdles was Mallory Short with a time of 14.56 seconds crossing the finish line in seventh place. Sydia Darker represented the women in the 400-meter hurdles, taking third place with a season best time of 1:03.50
The men's 400-meter hurdles had Zak Snow coming in second place with his final time of 54.16 while Terrone Garner came in sixth with 54.57 seconds.
Veronica Rollins and Janelle Johnson competed in the women's 800m, each taking first and fourth place, respectively. Rollins had a career best of 2:15.38 (second all-time for UMKC), while Johnson completed the laps in 2:17.08—also a career best.
For the jumping events, Michelle Momo and Traci Mills finished in fourth and ninth place, respectively. Momo jumped a season best of 5.69m while Mills finished with the farthest mark of 5.42m.
In one of her strongest events, Briana Carter placed fourth in the women's triple jump with a mark of 12.03m.
Joshua Harden grabbed second place in the men's triple with his leap of 15.00m—a career best and fifth all-time for UMKC.
Taking second in the women's shot put was Kelsey Benoit with her throw of 13.86m—a season best and top five in school history. Dahlia Dyson finished up with a final toss of 12.44m to earn sixth place.
Blake Hocking won the men's shot put with his toss of 17.63m.
Making spins in the discus ring, Dahlia Dyson took third place with her launch of 44.06m. Blake Hocking grabbed seventh in the men's with his mark of 45.68m—a season best.
Next, for the hammer throws Dahlia Dyson finished in fourth with 49.25m while Yasmin Musaddiq came in ninth with her throw of 47.47m. For the men, Kris Leverette grabbed fifth with his mark of 52.33m.
