New Mexico State Holds Off ?Roos, 6-2

LAS CRUCES, N.M. – UMKC brought the tying run to the plate in the top of the seventh inning, but the 'Roos came up short, falling to New Mexico State in game one of a three game set, 6-2.
Freshman Amber Grove allowed just two earned runs over 4.2 innings of work, scattering seven hits and striking out a pair of batters. But, the Aggies were able to manufacture a run in the second and third innings and a pair of runs in the fifth and sixth innings to seize a commanding lead.
Just four 'Roos managed hits, including Alexandra Friloux, who went 1-for-3 with a RBI.
UMKC and New Mexico State will resume play tomorrow at 3 p.m. (CST).
