
Four ?Roos Opened Up the WAC Championships in Multi-Events

(USAF, Colo.) – The two freshmen Daiwa Emmert and Zane Lockhart, along with juniors Patricia Miller and Garrison Woods, opened up the 2015 WAC Indoor Track and Field Championships for the UMKC track and field team with the men's heptathlon and women's pentathlon at the USAFA Cadet Field House.
The day opened up with Lockhart and Woods blazing in the men's 60m dash. Each set personal records with Woods finishing in a time of 7.52 to garner 732 points, as Lockhart clocked in at 7.67, earning 659 points.
The women started their day off in the 60-meter hurdles, with Patricia Miller finishing in 9.60 to earn 808 points. Daiwa Emmert set a personal record with her time of 10.52, good for 666 points.
Long jump was the second event for the men, where Garrison Woods set another personal record jumping 6.43m (21-01.25) earning 682 points. Following with a personal record as well was Zane Lockhart's mark of 6.19m (20-03.75) to garner 628 points.
At the same time, Daiwa Emmert high jumped 1.50m (4-11), earning another 621 points. Patricia Miller finished in the high jump with a mark of 1.41m (4-07.5), good for 523 points.
In the men's third event, the shot put, Belleville, Wis. native, Garrison Woods finished with his toss of 10.00m (32-09.75), good for 486 points and another personal record. Plattsmouth, Neb. native, Zane Lockhart gained 385 points with his toss of 8.32m (27-03.75).
Over in the shot put ring, St. Louis, Mo. native, Patricia Miller had a huge personal record with her first throw of 9.73m (30-07.5), earning 512 points. Tossing the shot 7.70m (25-03.25), the Bolivar, Mo. native, Daiwa Emmert received 380 points.
For the men's final event of the day, high jump, Zane Lockhart exceeded his previous record and jumped 1.76m (5-09.25), receiving 593 points. Garrison Woods set a personal record as well recording a jump at 1.79m (5-10. 5), granting him 619 points.
The fourth event for the women, long jump, was a great success for Daiwa Emmert where she had a big PR landing a mark of 4.96m (16-03.25), earning 548 points. Patricia Miller made a leap of 4.53m (14-10.5), good for 436 points.
Patricia Miller and Daiwa Emmert closed out the day in the 800m final event, each clocking in at 2:32.38 (663pts) and 2:56.07 (403pts), respectively. In conclusion of the women's pentathlon, both finished with personal season best in total points. Patricia Miller received eighth place with 2942 total points as Daiwa Emmert finished eleventh with a total of 2618 points.
For the men's side, Garrison Woods enters the final three events tomorrow with 2519 points, placing him fifth after the first four competitions, while Zane Lockhart sits seventh place with 2265 points. They will return to heptathlon action tomorrow starting with the 60-meter hurdles.
The Blue and Gold will be back in full action tomorrow with the conclusion of the men's heptathlon and the start of field and running events.
