(Kansas City, Mo.) – Making his home debut, Francois Lagraulet led UMKC men's golf to a tie for third at the Bill Ross Intercollegiate, finishing in sixth position at +1 at the Milburn Golf & Country Club.
The freshman started his round off hot, birdieing three straight holes, including the par-3's of 5 and 7 and the par-5 six. Lagraulet would go one to add two more birdies in round three to close out the tournament with a final round 75.
Matt Sieg climbed into a tie for 47th on the final day of play after a final round 73 that was highlighted by three birdies, including back-to-back on 10 and 11.
Senior Cameron Wiltse finished the Bill Ross Intercollegiate in a tie for 23rd, shooting an 82 on the final day of play.
Thibault Vieilledent, tied for 29th after a final round 77 that included the Frenchman birdieing both the 16th and 17th holes, while Jakob Garstecki finished the tournament in a tie for 54th, firing a 75 with four birdies, for his best round of the event.
Playing as an individual, Jack Hermeston continued his strong, steady play finishing in a tie for 15th with a final round 75 that featured four birdies, including matching Sieg with back-to-back birdies on 10 and 11.
Nick Auer, meanwhile, finished in 68th with a final round 80.
Wichita State was the team champion by a shot over both Air Force, while the Shockers Grant Bennett was the runaway winner at -10.
The Blue & Gold will be back in action again on Oct. 23-25 when they head to El Paso, Texas for the Price's “Give 'Em 5” Invitational hosted by UTEP at the Butterfield Trail Golf Club.
