'Roos Claim Fourth Straight Regular Season Crown, Beat 'Dons 4-2

(Fort Wayne, Ind.) - Kansas City men's tennis continued its dominance in the Summit League on Saturday, claiming its fourth consecutive conference crown with a win over Fort Wayne by a 4-2 margin.
The 'Roos (11-10, 5-0, SL) had to come from behind in the contest as IPFW (7-14, 1-2 SL) answered a UMKC win at No. 1 doubles with wins at No. 2 and No. 3, claming the point and a 1-0 lead going into singles action.
The 'Dons made it 2-0 after Martin Maudi defeated Andrey Smirnov at No. 5, but the 'Roos stormed back after that, rattling off four straight singles wins. Nino Hasandedic overcame a first set loss to kick off the comeback in winning the final two sets at No. 1, making it 2-1.
Tomas Patino tied it up at two with a straight-set win at the No. 4 position, followed by sweeps from Grant Fleming and Abdul Alawadhi at the No. 3 and 2 spots, clinching the win.
The 'Roos top four players in the lineup have all won at least four consecutive matches, led by an eight-match victory streak from Alawadhi.
Kansas City will now have a weekend off before the Summit League Championships on April 26-27 in Fort Wayne. The 'Roos have secured the No. 1 seed, and are now looking to win their third straight tournament title, with a trip to the NCAA Tournament on the line.
