Men Place 15th, Women Take 30th at the NCAA Midwest Regional to Complete Season

(Springfield, Mo.) -- Friday afternoon, the UMKC cross country program completed its 2012 campaign at the NCAA Midwest Regional with the men placing 15th (482 points) and the women finishing 30th (886 points).
On the men's side, Tulsa's Chris O'hara crossed the finish line in first at 30:25.87, as Oklahoma and Oklahoma State placed first in team competition with 45 points. As for the Kangaroos, senior Cosmas Ayabei took 23rd with a time of 30:58.17 in what was the third best performance in a 10K race in team history.
Behind Ayabei was freshman Kolton Sheldon in 79th (32:26.22), followed by senior Daniel Mann placing 113rd (33:05.43), junior Dirk Hudson finishing 122nd (33:16.86), sophomore Alex Nail in 149th (33:59.83), junior Alloch Burton in 153rd (34:03.95), and sophomore Griffin Humphreys in 161st (34:22.90). With these outings, each runner set new personal best times.
Meanwhile, on the women's side, Iowa State's Betsy Saina took first with a time of 19:51.46 to lead her squad to a top-place finish in team competition with 63 points. In the case of Kansas City, junior Meg Doss finished 146th with a personal best time of 23:39.40 to lead Kangaroo runners.
Rounding out the rest of the Kangaroos, junior Taylor Spencer (171st - 24:08.48), sophomore Siara Stahl (173rd - 24:11.99), junior Angel Gannon (204th - 25:15.19), and freshman Florence Osei (210th - 28:47.60) all finished, respectively.
