'Roos Undergo Media Training With WNBA Broadcaster Brenda VanLengen

(Kansas City, Mo.) -- The Kansas City women's basketball team recently underwent media training and a career workshop with WNBA broadcaster Brenda VanLengen.
In the event, VanLengen instructed the Kangaroos on strategies to work with the media, including interviews with reporters, TV personalities and radio broadcast, as well as student-athlete responsibilities when using social media. During the training, VanLengren had the team role play as reporters with one another, giving them a chance to experience typical questions they may face. VanLengren concluded the meeting with a career workshop, allowing the squad to brainstorm about possible career paths after college.
Brenda VanLengen has broadcast women's sports events on television and radio since 1996. VanLengen's expertise and voice have been featured on NCAA Tournament games on ESPN since 1999, including the Division II National Championship seven times, and she has spent 16 seasons on the Fox Sports broadcasts of Big 12 women's basketball. She was one of three primary play-by-play announcers for NCAA women's basketball on ESPN for the 2011-12 season. VanLengen is the co-Founder of SHE-KC, a sports, health and exercise publication for girls and women in Kansas City.
