`Roos Crowned Summit League Champions

Fort Wayne, Ind. -- The UMKC men's tennis team was crowned Summit League Tournament Champions on Saturday morning with a 4-2 win over IUPUI. The Kangaroos improve to 16-6 overall and remain perfect in Summit League play. As The Summit League Tournament Champions, the `Roos have earned a spot in the NCAA Tournament.
The win over the Jaguars puts UMKC at 14 consecutive wins this season. The Championship title is also the second for head coach Kendell Hale. The victory gave the Kangaroos their fourth men's tennis championship in school history and was the third time in school history where the `Roos claimed the regular season and tournament title.
The Kangaroos won the doubles matches at the No. 1 and No. 3 slots, with Nino Hasandedic and Grant Fleming defeating Bren Vasalakis and Dan Klingenberg, 8-4; and Abdul Alawadhi and Serge Ristivojevic defeating Ivan Mojsejev and Chase Emerson, 8-3.
In singles action, Hasandedic defeated Mojsejev, 6-0 and 6-3, while Fleming played his way to a 6-3 and 6-2 victory over Nick Volz. Gustavo Guerin was victorious at the No. five slot, defeating Vasalakis, 6-2 and 6-1.
