
Yakominich, Bouet Set School Record In 5-2 Win Over Southwest Baptist

Kansas City, Mo. -- The UMKC women's tennis team (5-10) picked up a 5-2 win on Monday afternoon over Southwest Baptist (3-8) at The Plaza Tennis Center. In the match, four 'Roos picked up two wins over the Bearcats, including junior Jillian Yakominich and sophomore Laura Bouet who each set the school record for singles wins in a career with their 27th career wins.
At the No. 2 singles line, Bouet picked up a 7-5, 4-6, 10-2 win over Adrienn Kovacs after teaming with fellow sophomore Suzan Lisenby for a 9-7 win over Mehak Singh and Andjela Panovski at No. 2 doubles. Lisenby, meanwhile, was victorious in her No. 4 singles match, picking up a 7-6 (7-1), 6-1 win over Panovski.
The squad's No. 3 doubles pairing of Yakominich and freshman Gabriela Pintos downed Jenna Hendrickson and Crystal Guiot, 9-7, before Yakominich defeated Hendrickson, 2-6, 6-1, 6-2 at No. 5 singles and Pintos defeated Guiot at No. 6, 5-7, 6-1, 6-0.
Senior Chelsea Horner and junior Eva Dalvai, meanwhile, teamed to down Kovacs and Faiga Schmidt at No. 1 doubles, 8-6, before falling in each of their singles matches. Dalvai dropped her match with Singh, 1-6, 6-1, 3-6, at No. 1, while Horner fell at No. 3, 3-6, 6-7 (5-7), 4-6 to Faiga.
The Blue and Gold will be back in action again on Wednesday when they welcome in in-state rival Northwest Missouri State.
