
Kangaroos Notch Second Straight Win

Kansas City, Mo. -- The UMKC women's tennis team (6-10) registered its second straight win with a 6-1 defeat of in-state rival Northwest Missouri State (3-4) on Wednesday afternoon at The Plaza Tennis Center.
Sophomore Eva Dalvai led the way for the 'Roos, teaming with senior Chelsea Horner for an 8-2 win over Leslee Feldhaus and Erika Leston at No. 1 doubles before taking down Leston at No. 1 singles, 6-3, 6-1.
At No. 2 doubles, sophomores Laura Bouet and Suzan Lisenby paired to down Alexis Bartek and Emily Hoffman, 8-2, while each was also victorious in their singles matches. Bouet beat Bartek, 6-0, 6-2 at No. 2 and Lisenby defeated Rocio Fernandez, 6-3, 6-2 at No. 4.
At No. 5 singles, junior Jillian Yakominich picked up a 6-2, 7-6 win over Hoffman and freshman Gabriela Pintos defeated Ashleigh Kaberline, 6-3, 6-0 at No. 6 after the duo fell in their No. 3 doubles match, 9-7, to Sureena Weir and Alison Wulff.
Horner, meanwhile, rounded out the UMKC singles line-up with a 7-5, 6-1 loss to Weir at the No. 3 line.
The Blue & Gold will be back in action again on Sunday when they head to Edwardsville, Ill. to take on SIU-Edwardsville at 2 p.m.
