'Roos Down Albany For Seventh Win Of The Year

Orlando, Fla. - The UMKC women's tennis team (7-11) defeated Albany, 5-2, on Thursday to pick up its seventh win of the season, one shy of the school record eight wins set during the 1991-92 season. Chelsea Horner led the way for the 'Roos, as the junior's 6-4, 6-3 win at No. 3 singles over Susan Ma clinched the match for the squad.
Laura Bouet and Suzan Lisenby, meanwhile, picked up a pair of victories at No. 2 and No. 4, respectively, as Bouet defeated Laine Mackey, 6-0, 5-7, 6-0 and Lisenby won 6-1, 6-2, over Caitlin Crowley. At No. 5, Jillian Yakominich beat Aubrey Brooks, 6-1, 6-1, while Holly Davis fell to Sarah Iannone, 6-3, 6-3 at No. 6. At No. 1 for the 'Roos, Eva Dalvai dropped a hard fought match to Livia Gherman, 4-6, 6-4, 12-10.
In doubles action, two of the three UMKC pairings picked up wins with Lisenby and Bouet downing Ma and Crowley, 8-5, at No. 2, while Yakominich and Ball beat Brooks and Iannone, 9-7, at No. 3 to give the 'Roos the doubles point. At No. 1, Dalvai and Horner lost Gherman and Mackey, 8-4.
The Blue and Gold will now be off until April 15 when they head to Las Vegas, Nev., to close out their regular season in the second Summit League cluster of the year.
