'Roos Drop Opening Match Of Second Summit League Cluster

Las Vegas, Nev. -- The UMKC women's tennis team (7-12) dropped its match with IPFW (19-5), 4-0, on Thursday at the Bally's Resort. In the match, the 'Roos were led by Suzan Lisenby, as the freshman was leading her No. 4 singles match with Katie Brien, 7-5, 4-6, 2-1, and her No. 2 doubles match with partner Laura Bouet, 7-6, over Alex Forsyth and Brien, 7-6 when both matches were suspended when the Mastodons clinched the match.
Sophomore Jillian Yakominich was also leading her No. 5 match over Forsyth, 3-0, when it was suspended as well.
At No. 1 singles, Eva Dalvai fell to Amy Recht, 6-0, 6-3, while fellow freshman Bouet dropped her match at No. 2 to Ingrid Ballus, 6-2, 6-0. Chelsea Horner, meanwhile, fell in her match at No. 3 to Raquel Vescovi, 4-6, 6-0, 6-0, while Holly Davis' match with Yuka Kobayashi at No. 6 did not start.
In doubles play, Dalvai and Horner fell to Ballus and Recht at No. 1, 8-0, and Yakominich and Jessica Ball were defeated by Kobayashi and Vescovi at No. 3, 8-5.
The Blue and Gold will be back in action again tomorrow with a pair of matches, starting at 10 a.m. against Oakland and 3 p.m. against IUPUI.
