BOUET TWICE NAMED SUMMIT LEAGUE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
UMKC's Laura Bouet has twice been named The Summit League Women's Tennis Player of the Week this season, earning the accolade on March 3 and March 16. Bouet earned her first career honor after posting a 2-0 mark in singles play against Drake and Northern Iowa in helping the 'Roos pick up their first ever team points against the Bulldogs and their first team points from the Panthers since 1995. Bouet garnered her second honor after posting a 2-0 mark in both singles and doubles play in wins over Ferris State and Southeast Missouri State, while breaking the school record for most wins in a single season.
IN THE RECORD BOOKS
The 2009-10 'Roos are placing themselves solidly in the UMKC record books with their current win totals, led by Laura Bouet. This season, the freshman has amassed 15 wins breaking Anne Lewis' previous record of 10 wins from the 1987-88 season on the school's all-time list. Jillian Yakominich and Eva Dalvai have each tallied nine wins on the season, placing each of them in a tie for third on the all-time list, while Suzan Lisenby's seven wins put her in a tie for 10th all-time with eight matches left in the season.
Bouet and Yakominich, meanwhile, are tied for fourth all-time on the career wins list with 15 wins each, while Chelsea Horner's 13 career wins and Holly Davis' 12 career wins are tied for seventh and ninth on the all-time list, respectively.
In doubles play, Horner and Bouet have registered eight wins, tying them for second on the single season wins list, while Yakominich, Lisenby and Dalvai have all notched seven wins to tie for fourth all-time.
ON A ROLL
UMKC has been hot of late, picking up wins in five of its last seven matches, including a 3-1 mark in Summit League play. In those matches, the 'Roos have outscored their opponents a combined 26-14. Over that span, Laura Bouet has gone 6-1 and Eva Dalvai has gone 5-2 in the top two spots, while Jillian Yakominich is 4-2 at the No. 5 position.

This season, seven 'Roos have already combined for 49 singles wins for a .418 winning percentage and 21 doubles wins for a .375 winning percentage. Laura Bouet leads the squad with 15 wins, while Jillian Yakominich and Eva Dalvai have chipped in nine. Last season no one player had more than six singles wins for the squad.
FRESHMEN LEADING THE WAY
After coming on strong during the fall season, freshman Laura Bouet, Eva Dalvai and Suzan Lisenby are being heavily relied on in their inaugural season with the 'Roos. Overall, the trio has combined for 31 of the team's 49 singles wins and 15 of the 21 doubles wins this spring. Bouet leads the way for UMKC, as the Gap, France, native has scored a team-high 22 combined wins in the 2009-10 season, while Dalvai and Lisenby have added 16 and 14 combined wins, respectively.
MAKING HISTORY
On their swing through Iowa, the 'Roos accomplished one feat no UMKC women's tennis team had ever accomplished and another feat that had only been accomplished once and not since 1995. In their match with Drake, the two points that the squad picked up on freshman Eva Dalvai and Laura Bouet's wins were the first two points ever won by the 'Roos against the Bulldogs, while the three points that the squad garnered against the Bluejays were the first points scored against Creighton since the 1995 season.
'ROOS PICKED FIFTH IN SUMMIT LEAGUE PRESEASON POLL
The UMKC women's tennis program has been picked to finish fifth in The Summit League Preseason Poll in a vote of the league's nine head coaches. The 'Roos received 42 points, which was just three points out of third place. After finishing fifth in The Summit League in 2009, the squad will look to its four returning letterwinners and three promising freshmen to improve on that position.
HEAD COACH KENDELL HALE
Head Coach Kendell Hale is entering his third season as the head coach of the UMKC men's and women's tennis program. Hale has made great strides with the women's program in his first two years, as he helped the team snap their 58-match losing streak in 2008 before posting five victories in 2009. The five wins were the most for the program since the 1999-00 season.
Before joining the UMKC coaching staff, Hale spent 11 years as the head coach at Rockhurst University, where he led the Hawks to nine NCAA Tournament appearances.
