Columbia, Mo. -- The UMKC softball team (3-11) dropped an 8-0 decision to Saint Louis on Saturday on the campus of the University of Missouri. Amanda Kinn led the way for the 'Roos, as the junior's notched the squad's only hit with a one out single in the bottom of the fifth.
The Billikens put runs on the scoreboard in each of the first two innings, getting two in the first and four in the second to take an early 6-0 lead in the contest.
The 'Roos threatened to put runs on the board in the bottom of the second when Chelsea Hartwig and Lauren Rodrigues led off the inning with back-to-back walks and later loaded the bases when Kinn walked, but a double play ended the squad's chances.
SLU tacked on two more runs in the fifth to push the lead to 8-0 and give them the eight runs needed to end the game in five innings.
Deanna Friese (2-7) took the loss on the mound for the 'Roos, as the freshmen tossed five innings allowing two earned runs and five hits, while striking out four.
The Blue and Gold will wrap-up play at the Missouri Breast Cancer Awareness Tournament on Sunday with a pair of games beginning at 1:30 against host Missouri. The 'Roos will then take on Missouri State 20 minutes after their first game ends.
