
'Roos Lose Second Straight; Fall At Illinois-Chicago, 7-0

Hinsdale, Ill. -- The UMKC men's tennis team dropped its second straight match, falling 7-0 at Illinois-Chicago on Sunday night in Hinsdale. The loss drops the Kangaroos' record to 3-2 on the year.
The Flames opened the match by taking two of the three doubles matches to claim the first point. Dave Robare and Scott Shepardson picked up the first win when they topped David Heckler and Erwin Quintanila, 8-1, at the No. 3 position. Nate Kirk and Sebastian Lystad then followed with a 8-4 victory over Serge Ristivojevic and Gustavo Guerin at the two line to clinch the first team point.
The 'Roos avoided the doubles sweep with a victory at the No. 1 position. Bret Berryman and Patrick Smith topped UIC's Bastian Harbo and Luis Gonzaga by the score of 8-6 to improve to 3-1 on the season.
In singles, Illinois-Chicago was victorious in all six matches to claim the 7-0 win. Smith and Ristivojevic played the tightest matches for UMKC, as both secured set victories before ultimately falling. Smith dropped a 6-2, 4-6, 6-3 decision to Harbo at the two position, while Ristvojevic fell 3-6, 7-6 (4), 12-10 to Gonzaga at the three line.
UMKC (3-2) will return to action on Wednesday afternoon when it hosts Cowley County Community College in their 2010 home debut.
