
Women's Soccer Takes On Southern Utah On Saturday

Kansas City, Mo. -- The UMKC women's soccer team continues Summit League play with a match at Southern Utah on Saturday afternoon. The Kangaroos are coming off of a 3-2 loss at IUPUI.
UMKC is 1-10 on the season and 0-2 in Summit League play, notching its only win at Eastern Illinois on Sept. 12.
The Kangaroos went 1-17-1 in their inaugural season last year. UMKC landed its only victory last season against Southern Utah, 2-0, on Oct. 16.
Head coach Anita Rodriguez is back for her second season and brings with her 11 letterwinners from last season, all of who saw lots of action. The Kangaroos also welcome eight newcomers to the 2010 squad, seven freshman and one transfer.
Scouting the Opponent
Southern Utah is 3-6-1 overall and 0-2 in The Summit League. The Thunderbirds are coming off of a 1-0 loss at Western Illinois. Riley Bassett leads Southern Utah with six goals and Charly Booth has 66 saves. Head coach Brian Stock is in his ninth season with the Thunderbirds.
The Series
The Kangaroos are 1-0 all-time against the Thunderbirds. UMKC notched its lone win of its inaugural season last year to Southern Utah at home.
Freshman Leads `Roos in Goals
Taylor Bare leads UMKC this season with eight points, three goals and two assists. The freshman tallied both a goal and a assist in last week's 3-2 loss at IUPUI.
Ashley Gann and Meagan Malloy also have two goals a piece for the Kangaroos this season.
Finnell Leads Summit League in Saves
UMKC goalkeeper Jami Finnell is leading The Summit League in saves and saves per game. The sophomore has 80 saves on the year and is averaging 7.62 saves per match.
Still Going Strong
UMKC has two players that have started and played in every match since the program began last August. Goalkeeper Jami Finnell and forward Meagan Malloy have started in 30 consecutive matches for the `Roos.
Last Time Out: Malloy and Bare Goals Can't Send `Roos Past Jaguars
The UMKC women's soccer team dropped a 3-2 decision at IUPUI on Oct. 3. In the loss, Meagan Malloy and Taylor Bare each scored a goal.

`Roos Defeat Panthers 1-0 To Pick Up First Win Of Season
The UMKC women's soccer team recorded its first victory of the 2010 season at Eastern Illinois on Sept. 12, 1-0. The Kangaroos win over the Panthers is the second win in UMKC women's soccer program history. Amanda Casalinuovo scored the game winning goal for the `Roos and goalkeeper Jami Finnell came up big in the win with 10 saves.
