
UMKC Closes Out Regular Season With Oakland

Kansas City, Mo. -- The UMKC women's soccer team will close out the regular season with Oakland on Saturday at 11:30 a.m. The `Roos are coming off of a 0-0 tie to IPFW, despite two overtime periods. 
UMKC is 1-14-2 on the season and 0-6-2 in Summit League play, notching its only win at Eastern Illinois on Sept. 12.
The Kangaroos went 1-17-1 in their inaugural season last year. UMKC landed its only victory last season against Southern Utah, 2-0, on Oct. 16.
Head coach Anita Rodriguez is back for her second season and brings with her 11 letterwinners from last season, all of who saw lots of action. The Kangaroos also welcome eight newcomers to the 2010 squad, seven freshmen and one transfer.
Scouting the Opponent
Oakland is 11-5-2 overall and 7-0-1 in The Summit League. The Golden Grizzlies 3-1 win over Southern Utah clinched the team The Summit League regular season title. Oakland is led by Nicole DeLuca with nine goals and three assists for 21 points. Shannon Coley leads the Golden Grizzlies with 40 saves on the year.
Last season, Oakland finished up with a 7-9-1 overall record and went 4-4-1 in league play.
The Series
The Kangaroos are 0-1 all-time against the Golden Grizzlies. UMKC was shutout by Oakland 8-0 last season at Pontiac, Mich., on Oct. 2.
`Roos Tie Shot Record At Centenary
UMKC posted a team high 20 shots against the Ladies, which is tied for the most in program history. Meagan Malloy led all players with four shots, placing two of them on frame. The Kangaroos also recorded 20 shots at South Dakota back in August.
Finnell Continues to Lead Summit League In Saves
UMKC goalkeeper Jami Finnell continues to lead The Summit League in saves and save percentage. Finnell has 118 saves on the year and has a 7.71 save percentage. The sophomore finished last season with 159 saves and a 7.46 save percentage.
Still Going Strong
UMKC has two players that have started and played in every match since the program began last August. Goalkeeper Jami Finnell and forward Meagan Malloy have started in 36 consecutive matches for the `Roos.
Last Time Out: Kangaroos Tie Mastodons 0-0 At DSSRF Thursday Night
The UMKC women's soccer team played the IPFW Mastodons to a 0-0 tie despite two overtime periods. Jami Finnell recorded five saves in net, while Ashley Gann, Taylor Bare and Jordan Andrzejewski each had two shots.
Malloy and Bare Tied In Goals
Taylor Bare led UMKC early on in the season with three goals a piece but sophomore Meagan Malloy just notched her third goal. Malloy scored in the 2-1 loss at Centenary on Oct. 22.
`Roos Defeat Panthers 1-0 To Pick Up First Win Of Season
The UMKC women's soccer team recorded its first victory of the 2010 season at Eastern Illinois on Sept. 12, 1-0. The Kangaroos win over the Panthers is the second win in UMKC women's soccer program history. Amanda Casalinuovo scored the game winning goal for the `Roos and goalkeeper Jami Finnell came up big in the win with 10 saves.
