
Kangaroos Tie Mastodons 0-0 At DSSRF Thursday Night

Kansas City, Mo. -- The UMKC women's soccer team played the IPFW Mastodons to a 0-0 tie despite two overtime periods. The Kangaroos move to 1-14-2 overall and 0-6-2 in The Summit League, while the Mastodons move to 6-9-1 overall and 3-4-1 in league play. Jami Finnell recorded five saves in net, while Ashley Gann, Taylor Bare and Jordan Andrzejewski each had two shots.
The first half was mostly a battle for the middle of the field, with IPFW only recording three shots. The `Roos and `Dons headed into the locker room at 0-0.
Both teams had a little more urgency in the second half but neither team was able to find the back of the net, sending the match into overtime.
The Kangaroos showed more aggression in the first overtime period, out-shooting the Mastodons, 4-1. But again neither team could find the back of the net, sending the match into a second overtime. The `Roos again out-shot IPFW in the second overtime and had two great chances to score, but the Mastodon defense held strong to escape Kansas City with a tie.
UMKC will host Oakland for its last regular season game at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday.
