St. Louis, Mo. -- The UMKC men's soccer team had its six-game unbeaten streak snapped by Saint Louis on Tuesday night at Hermann Stadium. The Billikens netted the game-winning strike in overtime at the 91:37 mark to claim the 2-1 victory.
Saint Louis netted the first goal of the game in the 35th minute. Devon Newport sent a corner kick into the box, where Benny Estes found the back of the net inside the near post for his first strike of the season.
After trailing 1-0 at the half, the 'Roos got the equalizer courtesy of a Saint Louis own goal at the 65:10 mark. The two teams then battled to a 1-1 tie through the end of regulation. The Billikens, however, went on to claim the victory when Adnan Gabeljic took a pass from Beau Bellomy from the right side. Gabeljic then turned and fired from 15-yards out to the inside far post for the game-winner.
Saint Louis held an 11-10 advantage in overall shots in the game and a slight 6-5 edge in corner kicks.
In the loss, senior Ken Cooper made six saves in between the posts for the 'Roos.
UMKC (9-4-2) will return to action on Saturday afternoon when it hosts IUPUI in a key match that will determine The Summit League title.
