
Men's Tennis Season Comes To An End In 4-0 Loss To Baylor In NCAA First Round

Tulsa, Okla. -- The UMKC men's tennis team had its season come to a close in a 4-0 loss to No. 6 Baylor on Friday in the first round of the NCAA Tournament, which was being held at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center on the campus of the University of Tulsa. The Kangaroos conclude their season with a 14-7 overall record.
The Bears opened the day by winning at the one and two doubles lines to take the first point of the match. Maros Horny and Denes Lukacs, the No. 64 ranked pair in the country, secured an 8-2 win over Dennis Schwarz and Erwin Quintanilla at the two line. The 18th ranked pair of David Galic and Jordan Rux then defeated Bret Berryman and Patrick Smith by the score of 8-3 at the one position to take the point.
In singles, Baylor clinched the match with straight set wins at the one, three and five positions. No. 121 Attila Bucko claimed the first match with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Schwarz at the five line before Julian Bley topped Serge Ristivojevic, 6-2, 6-0, at the three line. No. 4 Lukacs then clinched the BU win with a 6-2, 6-3 win over Berryman at the No. 1 position.
UMKC, which was playing in its third ever NCAA Tournament, finished the year with a 14-7 overall record. The 14 wins are tied for the most victories in a single season in school history.
