Two Former Kangaroos To Play In A B-League Tournament In Italy

Treviso, Italy -- Former UMKC men's basketball players Tim Blackwell and Dee Ayuba will participate in the 2008 Benetton Basket Summer League Tournament at La Ghirada Citta dello Sport in Treviso, Italy, on July 24-27. The format of the of the event is an eight-team, four-day round robin tournament featuring professional basketball players looking to sign a pro contracts in Europe.
One hundred free agents were invited to Italy to try to showcase their basketball skills to international agents, officials, General Managers and coaches.
Blackwell will be a part of the Sanson team at the tournament, while Ayuba will play for the Alibert squad. Other notable players participating in the event include: Jarryd Lloyd (Valparaiso), Anthony King (Miami), Jeremis Smith (Georgia Tech), Klayton Korver (Drake), Anthony King (Miami) and former NBA player and Overland Park, Kan., native Matt Freije (Vanderbilt).
