Dana Goss is in her first season as an assistant coach with the Kansas City softball program.
Before coming to the Kangaroos, Goss served as an assistant coach for the last four seasons at Rockhurst University here in Kansas City. During her time with the Hawks, Goss coached nine all-conference players while also leading the team's strength and conditioning program. Additionally, she was able to lure professional softball players and former Olympians to work directly with the student athletes.
Goss' resume also includes serving as the head coach for Maple Woods Community College (Mo.) for two seasons (2004-06). While at the helm, she earned NJCAA Region XVI Coach of the Year (2005) and was a NFCA Midwest Coach of the Year Finalist in both seasons.
Also under Goss' leadership, the Monarchs set a school record for wins in back-to-back seasons and led the squad to a fifth place in the NJCAA Division I College World Series. Moreover, nine players went on to turn earn All-Region XVI honors, including two receiving All-American recognition.
Her previous stop before Maple Woods, Goss spent one season as the pitching coach for Avila (Mo.). Under her tutelage, the pitchers finished with the lowest ERA in the program's history and developed Avila's first ever First Team All-HAAC honoree.
As a collegiate athlete, she was a two-sport star (basketball and softball) at Baker University and then later transferred to a junior college. During her time in the junior college ranks, Goss earned All-Region honors in softball and held the third highest batting average in the country before suffering an injury.
Goss currently resides in Liberty, Mo. with her husband, Bret, and two children, Sydney and Easton.
