Ashley Goodrich joined the UMKC staff as a Graduate Assistant for SASSO in August of 2011. She is currently working towards her Masters in Higher Education Administration and will graduate in May of 2013.
Within the SASSO office, Goodrich assists with the mentoring of student-athletes on a daily basis and helps student-athletes with academic issues regarding class enrollment, sports travel arrangements in relation to missed classes, and study hall hours. She also helps bridge communication between professors, student-athletes, and the athletic department, and works closely with the Life Skills and SAAC organizations among other tasks.
Additionally, Goodrich is responsible for developing the community outreach program at UMKC by establishing new leads on projects and maintaining current programs. She has helped establish partnerships between UMKC and Habitat for Humanity, in which she joins individual teams and attends Saturday work days in the community monthly to help build and renovate Habitat homes. Another connection Goodrich created is with the Morning Glory Café through the Catholic Charities foundation; throughout the semester, Goodrich and designated teams help serve breakfast at a local soup kitchen in Kansas City. As she works to develop a well-rounded student-athlete through these opportunities, she hopes to build on the current programs and attain more community involvement opportunities in the future.
Looking forward, Goodrich hopes to utilize her Masters education and experience she has gained at UMKC and work in college athletics. She would like to work towards becoming an athletics director at a major division one university and eventually transition into professional sports, most notably major league baseball.
Goodrich graduated of the University of Kansas with a Bachelors in Exercise Science with an emphasis in Sports Management in 2006. During her four years at KU, Goodrich was a member of the softball team from 2003-2006. While at KU, she earned All-Conference Academic Awards in 2005 and 2006, Athletic Director's Honor Roll Awards in the same years, and was a Big 12 Conference tournament champion in 2006.
Goodrich currently resides in Kansas City, Kansas.
