On Aug. 17, 2020, Will McCall was hired as the new assistant volleyball coach. McCall was the graduate assistant coach for the past two seasons earning his master's degree from UMKC in Sports Administration the spring of 2020.
"We're very happy to welcome Will back to our program," said Posey, "He brings a unique perspective as a former men's player and as an experienced coach in several women's programs. His main focus will be blocking and defense on the court while organizing travel and equipment off the court. Will has great rapport with our players and it's his goal to bring out their best to reach their individual goals as well as our team goal to win a conference championship and play in the NCAA Tournament."

McCall has been a pivotal coaching influence as the Roos have won 38 matches from 2018-19. In 2019, Kansas City punched it's first-ever berth to the National Invitational Volleyball Championship (NIVC), which is a 32-team postseason tournament. He has helped mentor seven All-WAC First and Second Team performers, including 2019 WAC Setter of the Year Alli Schomers.
McCall's focus will be on recruiting, team travel, apparel coordinator and liaison between the team and Swinney Center.
The Fellsmere, Fla., native graduated from Lewis University in Romeoville, Ill., in 2016. He played four years for the Flyers appearing in 48 matches. He was a four-time All-Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association (MIVA) Academic selection.

After his playing career, McCall was on the men's volleyball staff at Carthage College (Wis.) during the spring of 2017 and assisted with women's volleyball at Western New Mexico State University during the fall of 2017.
McCall replaces Trent Jones, who was hired as the head volleyball coach at Rockhurst University in June, 2020.

"UMKC has been home for me the last two years and I love the coaching staff and the girls," commented McCall. "The culture and family aspect was what drove me to Kansas City Athletics."
