2009 -- Led UMKC on the mound with 136 strikeouts and held opponents to a .269 batting average... finished with a 3.27 ERA and an 8-15 record... appeared in 32 games and started in 21... threw 137 innings, allowing 89 runs to score off of 145 hits with 64 of those runs being earned... walked 52 batters... finished with a season high 12 strikeouts on two occasions, at IPFW (4/3) and at IUPUI (4/24)...threw in six complete games on the year, including a nine inning game against Western Illinois (3/14)... was The Summit League Pitcher of the Week on April 13... named to The Summit League Winter/Spring Academic all-League team and to the Commissioner's List of Academic Excellence.
2008 -- Made 32 appearances in the circle for UMKC, hurling 107.1 innings in 23 starts... compiled a record of 5-13, with all five wins coming in league action... posted a 5.02 ERA, striking out 110 batters and issuing just 45 walks, with her pace of 7.19 strikeouts per seven innings good for second in The Summit League... first Kangaroo pitcher since 2003 to break the 100-strikeout mark and the third-highest single-season total in program history... offensively, posted a .213 batting average, good for sixth on the team, collecting a double, a triple and her first career home run... posted a perfect 3-for-3 outing against South Dakota State (3/9) including two singles bookending a solo home run... named to The Summit League Winter/Spring Academic all-League team and to the Commissioner’s List of Academic Excellence.
2007 -- Saw action as both a pitcher and outfielder for the Kangaroos... appeared in 24 games in the circle, starting 14... hurled four complete games, striking out 63 en route to a 2-14 record, with a 5.98 ERA... on the offensive side of the ledger, she finished with a .159 batting average, laying down three sacrifice hits and collecting one RBI... named to the Mid-Con Winter/Spring Academic all-Conference team and to the Mid-Continent Conference Commissioner’s List of Academic Excellence.
At Tennessee State -- Played freshman season at Tennessee State University... was named to the all-Tournament team at the Mississippi State Tournament, the only freshman to do so... recorded the single-game record for strikeouts.
High School -- Four year letterwinner... named to the all-ESPN Radio team... team captain as a senior... doubled school record for strikeouts in a season as she finished with 323 strikeouts and a 0.61 ERA as a senior on the mound... also posted a .408 batting average... ..one of only three players elected to the all-conference squad by a unanimous vote by the coaches... pitched and won championship games in Southern Nationals and at the Florida Sunshine State Games for the Tampa Wildcats, a travel team...also was a three-year member of the marching band and the co-captain of the academic Quiz Bowl team.
Personal -- Born on Nov. 30, 1986... daughter of Jerry and Marsha Hurst... twice won the Florida Marlins Youth Skills competition and she posted the highest score ever (boys or girls)... was once stopped by an umpire in a game to check her pockets to see if she was doctoring the ball because of the excessive movement... majoring in environmental sciences at UMKC.
