Hayley McRae enters her second year with Kansas City Softball in 2025. The former St. Mary's (KS) head coach brings a plethora of softball experience to the Roos' dugout, including a collegiate career that included time at Texas Women's University and the University of North Texas.
"I chose Kansas City because of the competitive level of play and the location," McRae said. "Kansas City is a wonderful place to raise a family and coach. The coaching staff is great to work alongside, and I am excited to continue to see the softball program make successful strides to becoming a top competitor in Division One softball."
In 2024, McRae aided Kansas City to 23 wins, the ninth-most in program history, and the best postseason seeding since 2016. The Roos placed eight players on the All-Summit League teams, the most in program history, including two First Teamers and the Freshman of the Year.
McRae was the head coach at St. Mary's prior to coming to Kansas City, leading the Spires to 113 wins across her seven seasons at the helm. She also spent time as an assistant coach at Avila University for two seasons and coached at the high school level for two years.Â
McRae spent the first three years of her collegiate career at Texas Women's University before transferring to North Texas for her final season. Throughout her career, she was a three-time NCAA All-American, a four-year Academic All-American and was a 2009 NFCA All-American Scholar Athlete.
A native of Fort Worth, Texas, McRae graduated from Keller High School in 2007. She was a member of the 2005 UIL state and national champion team, adding a state runner-up in 2006. She was named Defensive Player of the Year in 2005 and was inducted into the Keller HS Hall of Fame in 2015.
McRae is a member of the NFCA. She currently lives in Blue Springs with her husband Trenton and their daughter Danielle Mae.
