The Kansas City Roos softball team dominated the Western Illinois Leathernecks with an 8–0 shutout victory, during their second home game of the season. The Roos set the tone early and never let up, controlling the game from the first pitch to the final out. Strong performances in the circle and at the plate fueled the win, giving the Roos a statement victory at home. The team will look to carry this momentum into their next matchup.

The UMKC Kangaroos opened their home schedule with a doubleheader against the Creighton Bluejays, marking the first home games of the season. Creighton took the first matchup with a final score of 6-2, putting the Roos on the board with an early loss before the teams returned to the field for game two.
