2014-15 -- One of only four players to play in all 33 games, and played mostly out of position due to injuries on the team... He ranked eighth in the WAC with 23 blocked shots, and 20th with 4.2 rebounds per game... Started 20 contests, the most among freshmen on the team... Scored double figures three times, including a season-high 15 points and 13 rebounds in a double-overtime win at Indiana State (12/28)... He also pulled down 12 boards at Miami (Ohio) (1/3)... His other double-figure scoring nights came against Incarnate Word (12/20) and UTPA (2/5) with 10 in each... Led the team in rebounding nine times, the best on the team.
In High School -- Austin played at Cahokia High School in Illinois, playing for head coach Darian Nash… He was a four-time South Seven All-Conference selection, earning honorable mention as a freshman, second-team as a sophomore, and first-team as a junior and senior… As a senior, he averaged 18.1 points, 7.4 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 1.5 steals and 1.4 blocks per game while leading the team to a 25-8 record and a 6th place finish in the state... That season he also earned second-team all-state, and Elite 8, while finishing as the second leading scorer in school history... His junior year, he was also first-team all-area and third-team all-state selection after averaging 11.1 points and 4.3 rebounds, along with 25 blocks… He led the squad to a 33-4 record, a conference championship, and a state runner-up finish in Illinois class 3A as a junior as well, the best finish in school history… As a sophomore he put up 12.2 points and 3.1 boards a game, earning honorable mention all-state while leading Cahokia to a 23-8 mark and a conference title… He was the first player to start on the varsity team as a freshman, while setting the school record for points in a season as a freshman… He played his AAU ball for the Illinois Wolves and coach Mike Mullins… He was also on the honor roll each year, and was captain of the school’s leadership team.
