
Men's Basketball Signs Mykel Bruce-McCrommon

Bruce-McCrommon averaged 21 points per game as a senior in high school
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Kansas City Men's Basketball continues adding to its 2026 signing class, officially announcing the addition of Mykel Bruce-McCrommon today. Bruce-McCrommon is a 6'7 forward out of Pittsburgh, Penn. and was a standout on the Pittsburgh high school scene this past season. According to Prep Hoops, he is the #4 small forward and the #17 overall recruit in Pennsylvania.
"I chose to play at Kansas City because it felt like the best situation for me to develop my game," Bruce-McCrommon said. "I feel like Coach Turgeon will do that, and I appreciated how real he was with me throughout the whole recruiting process. He has been genuine to me and made me feel comfortable about coming to the school."
Bruce-McCrommon played high school ball at Gateway High School, where he was coached by Vern Benson. In his senior year, he averaged 21 points per game on 54% field goal shooting and 43% three-point shooting, adding seven rebounds, three assists, two blocks and two steals per game. He hauled in a plethora of accolades, including Big 56 Conference 5A Section 1 Player of the Year and All-Section First Team. He was named to the Mr. PA Basketball Fabulous 50 and earned Western PA Prep All-Senior Team honors.
On his high school career, Bruce-McCrommon finished with 1,251 points, 513 rebounds, 252 assists and 107 blocks. He also played club ball for The Scoring Factory Elite, coached by Joe Pipilo.
In addition to basketball, he participated in orchestra and was a High Honor Roll student.
Born in a family of basketball, his parents Chaz McCrommon and Chelsea Bruce-McCrommon both played at the collegiate level. Chaz played at Robert Morris from 2001-05 and was a two-time All-Northeast Conference First Teamer and is a member of the RMU Athletic Hall of Fame. Chelsea played at Longwood and was a member of the 2003 NCAA Division II Regional Semifinal-qualifying team. His grandfather, Kirk Bruce, played at Pittsburgh and later went on to serve as women's basketball coach and later a senior administrator with the Panthers.
Bruce-McCrommon was born in Pittsburgh on Aug. 5, 2008 and has two siblings: Elijah and Ava.
