Out of the Roos 15 non-conference games, eight will be played on the road while the remaining seven will take place at the Swinney Center. Kansas City kicks off the new season on Nov. 3, where the Roos will match up with Evangel on a Monday night. Coming off the season opener at Swinney, the Roos travel to Carbondale, Ill. on Nov. 7 for their first road test of the season against Southern Illinois. The following week brings another home contest for KC as the Roos duke it out with Iona on Nov. 11 before a long road stretch.
Following the Roos first three games of the '25-26 season, the competition ratchets up when Kansas City saddles up for an SEC/Summit standoff against Texas on Nov. 15. The Roos will be heavily tested as the Longhorns return several key pieces from a team that made a First Four appearance in the NCAA Tournament a year ago.
The Roos then head west in the Lone Star State to take on TCU. In 2024-25, the Horned Frogs finished ninth in a ferocious Big 12 race with a 9-11 conference record and went 16-16 overall. Kansas City and TCU play on Wednesday, Nov. 19, the first time the two teams have ever faced off against each other.
Kansas City wraps up November remaining on the road for a test closer to home against Lindenwood and then plays the first of two match ups against Weber State, this one being on the Wildcats home hardwood. Kansas City's first match up with Weber State represents the first of four consecutive games against Big Sky opponents.
Following a three week stretch of games away from the Swinney Center, Kansas City hosts Idaho State on Dec. 3, completing a series with a Bengals team that beat the Roos 82-77 in KC last season. The Roos then travel to Eastern Washington on Dec. 6 before hosting Weber State a few days later. Kansas City will play the out-of-conference Wildcats twice in less than a two week span, an unexpected novelty in the college basketball scene.
Kansas City hosts its fifth home game of the season against Spurgeon on Dec. 13 before taking another challenging trip down south. The Roos gear up to battle against Oklahoma on Dec. 16 before matching up with Oklahoma State two days later. In 2024-25, the Sooners ran the table in the non-conference, going 13-0 and being slotted as high as No. 12 in the AP Poll before finishing 20-14 overall and missing out on March Madness as one of the teams in the first four out.
Meanwhile, the Cowboys completed last season with a record of 17-18, just below the .500 mark for a team that ended the year with a two point loss to Marshall in the NIT Quarterfinals. Oklahoma State beat Wichita State and one-seeded SMU squad prior to falling to the Thundering Herd.
Both match ups will be great competition for Kansas City this season as the Roos look to establish themselves nationally. The Roos round out the non-conference schedule with a pair of home games on Dec. 21 against Austin Peay and Dec. 28 versus McPherson.
