Saint Mary's Notes
Kansas City Notes
- No. 19 Kansas City Men's Soccer remains on its home turf on Friday for a game against Saint Mary's following back-to-back results against ranked opponents to open the season. The Roos will look to leave the month of August with two wins for the first time since 2017 and the second time in program history.
- KC picked up a big-time win over No. 24 Missouri State on Monday evening, scoring in the 11th and 15th minutes after the Bears opened the scoring in the eighth minute. It marked the third time in the past two seasons that the Roos took down MSU despite conceding the first goal.
- After a pair of newcomers scored in the Roos' season opener, the returners were the heroes in Monday's contest. Jeremy Francou scored the equalizer for his fifth career goal and Bryson Gosch scored the winner, the second goal of his career.
- Gabriele Galluccio has tallied three assists on the young season, matching the mark that he reached in his freshman campaign. He is tied for third in the NCAA and is one of just 13 players in the nation with three-plus assists.
- The first in-season iteration of the United Soccer Coaches poll saw some major movements, including the Roos dropping one spot from No. 18 to No. 19. That poll did not take into account the Roos' win over Missouri State.
Saint Mary's Notes
- Saint Mary's enters Friday's meeting with an 0-2 record, having fallen in both games due to a game-winner in the 82nd minute or later.
- The Gaels are led by TJ Dilley, who has scored a pair of goals on the year, one in each game.
- Former Roo Luke Hoelting is also on the SMC roster, having started in each of the team's first two games.
- The Roos and Gaels have met just once in program history, with Kansas City earning a season-opening win last year.
- Elie Kisoka was the hero in that Aug. 22 meeting, scoring an unassisted game-winner in the 84th minute, the first of his six game-winners on the year.
