Roos Travel to UND for Final Regular Season Game
2/28/2025 5:58:00 PM | Women's Basketball
Kansas City and North Dakota tip off tomorrow at 1 p.m.
THE STARTERS
- In the past three seasons, the Roos and the Fighting Hawks have split the season series with each team holding the upper hand at home. After falling 60-63 in the Swinney Center on Jan. 4, the Roos will have to win in Grand Forks to force a split. Doing so would secure the fifth seed going into the conference tournament.Â
- Alayna Contreras scored 16 points at NDSU, marking her fifth consecutive game as the Roos' leading scorer. She has surpassed 500 points this season with 503.Â
- In their eight meetings, the Roos have defeated the Fighting Hawks once in Grand Forks. KC won in overtime 71-67 on Jan. 2, 2021.Â
- Kelby Bannerman returned to the Roos' starting lineup for the first time in two games. She played 23 minutes and scored nine points on 4-of-7 shooting from the field. She also snagged two steals for her best performance in that category during conference play.Â
- Across the past five years, the Roos are 1-4 in the regular season finale. Their most recent win came before rejoining the Summit League on March 7, 2020, when the Roos defeated Seattle 68-65.Â
- Elauni Bennett has proven herself a strong defender for the Roos and Thursday's game at NDSU was no different. She brought down a team-leading six rebounds, four of which she earned on the offensive end. She has 43 offensive boards during conference play and averages 2.9 per game.Â
SCOUTING NORTH DAKOTA
- The Fighting Hawks and the Roos enter the match coming off losses in their penultimate games of the regular season. North Dakota fell to Omaha, 70-76, in Grand Forks while the Roos fell, 67-93 at NDSU.Â
- Kiera Pemberton, Jocelyn Schiller and Mikayla Aumer have made starts in all 28 games this season. Pemberton leads the Fighting Hawks in scoring, averaging 16.0 points per game and rebounds averaging 7.1. Shiller ranks first in assists (2.7 per game) and steals (1.4 per game).Â
- In their first meeting, the Fighting Hawks outrebounded the Roos 34-31 and scored 26 points in the paint compared to Kansas City's 18. Pemberton and Schiller combined for 16 rebounds and 47 points in the win.Â
- North Dakota holds a 3-4 record at home during conference and a 2-3 record across their past five home games. The Fighting Hawks have a chance to sweep KC in the season series as they did Denver on Feb. 22.Â
