Roos Host Tommies in Afternoon Matchup

THE STARTERS
- Alayna Contreras enters the game coming off her third 30-plus point performance. She notched a career-high 33 points against Oral Roberts, on 11-of-23 shooting from the field and 4-of-7 shooting beyond the arc. She has led Roos in scoring in seven of their 12 conference matches and currently ranks fourth in the Summit, averaging 19.8 points per game during conference play.
- Kansas City won the most recent meeting 76-69 in a game that was later conceded to St. Thomas due to forfeit. Emani Bennett and Tamia Ugass led the Roos, knocking down 26 points each.Â
- The Roos will look to snap a three-game losing skid after falling to South Dakota and Oral Roberts on the road last week. Kansas City holds a 3-3 record in the Swinney Center during league play.Â
- Elauni Bennett has been a key defensive player for the Roos, bringing down 35 offensive boards during league play. She brought down a game-high 14 rebounds at Oral Roberts including four offensive rebounds. The Roos went on to outrebound the Golden Eagles 41-to-31 in the game.Â
- In the first meeting between the Roos and the Tommies, Tamia Ugass was a major contributor shooting 7-of-12 from the field and 12-of-13 from the charity stripe. Her 26 points earned mark a season-high and more than triple her conference average of 8.5 points per game.Â
- A win over St. Thomas would improve the Roos to 2-2 against the Tommies when playing in the Swinney Center.
SCOUTING ST. THOMAS
- The Tommies enter the game on a hot streak picking up three consecutive wins over Omaha, Denver and North Dakota. They rank fourth in the Summit with a 7-5 record, just one spot above KC.Â
- St. Thomas holds a 6-6 record on the road and is 3-3 on the road during conference play. The Tommies have earned road wins at Omaha (Jan. 18), North Dakota (Jan. 30) and Denver (Feb. 8).Â
- The St. Thomas offense ranks third in the Summit averaging 72.0 points per game. Three Tommies average more than 14 points per game. Amber Scalia leads St. Thomas averaging 14.9 points per game and is joined by Jo Langbehn (14.5) and Jill Hade (14.4).Â
- Jade Hill and Jo Langbehn led the Tommies to victory over North Dakota, combining for 39 points and seven assists. St. Thomas swept North Dakota, Denver and Omaha, notching wins in both rounds of league play.Â
