Notes: Kansas City Closes Calendar Year Hosting Omaha in Summit Opener

Kansas City Notes
- Kansas City wraps up the 2025 calendar year with the Summit League opener, hosting Omaha at 5 p.m. CT on New Year's Eve at the Swinney Center. The Roos are coming off a 67-71 overtime decision against Missouri this past Sunday afternoon.
- Tierra Trotter was named this week's Kwik Star Summit League Peak Performer of the Week following the graduate guard's season-high 21 points against the Tigers. Trotter's impressive performance was encapsulated by 57% (8-14) shooting from the field and 40% (2-5) efficiency from three point range.
- Emani Bennett set a new career-high in rebounds, hauling in 11 boards against Missouri, two offensive and nine defensive. Bennett also tallied 17 points, giving the junior guard her first career double-double with 17 points and 11 rebounds. Bennett also recorded a career-high 27 field goal attempts vs. the Tigers.
- Emani Bennett is chasing the 1,000 career points landmark. The junior guard out of Lee's Summit, Mo. is sitting at 979 career points in 77 career games played and 68 career starts. Bennett has scored 187 points in 11 games this season following her sophomore season which netted Bennett 497 points to the cause
- The Roos and Mavericks have a storied history the past few years with Kansas City going 4-4 against Omaha in the Jackson-Durrett era. Three of those four wins have seen a double digit margin of victory with the lone single digit margin coming in last year's tight 66-65 victory on the road.
Omaha Notes
- Omaha is 2-13 in the 2025-26 season and winless on the road, going 0-7 in such matchups and 0-9 away from home overall.
- The Mavericks are coming off a 90-81 win over Briar Cliff last Saturday which snapped a 12 game skid. Omaha other win came over Saint Mary (Neb.) 88-47.
- Freshman forward Avril Smith leads the Summit League in rebounding, grabbing 11.1 RPG, 3.9 of which come on the offensive side of the glass. Smith also leads the team in steals at 1.4 a night and blocks notching 1.9 a contest.
- Omaha was picked to finish eighth in the Summit League Preseason Poll, garnering 121 points after finishing tied for seventh place in the 2024-25 season. The Mavericks only finished ahead of Denver at 101 points in the poll.
