Kansas City Come Back Falls Short at Lindenwood

CJ Evans led the Roos' charge with 19 points, five assists and four steals
ST. CHARLES, Mo. - Kansas City Men's Basketball found itself down by as many as 18 points early in the second half against Lindenwood tonight, battling back to cut the deficit to three points at the final media timeout before falling, 80-67. The Roos were led by CJ Evans' 19 points, adding five assists and a career-high four steals. Jayson Petty joined Evans in double digits, finishing with 13 points.
The two sides traded punches in the early going, Petty scoring eight points in the game's first 12 minutes. Kansas City held a two-point lead, 28-26 with just under five minutes remaining in the half, but the Lions ended the frame on a 16-7 run to take a seven-point advantage into the break.
Lindenwood opened the second half strong, jumping ahead by 18 following a 13-2 run to open the half. The Roos began chipping away at the lead, sparked by Evans' scoring. Kernan Bundy and Kasheem Grady II added some offensive help to pull the Roos within striking distance and a Petty and-one pulled KC within three points with four minutes remaining. Lindenwood closed the game on a 12-2 run, claiming the victory.
D'Andre Harrison made his collegiate debut in the loss, going 3-of-4 from the field to finish with six points and three rebounds. Petty was Kansas City's rebounding leader with six. In total, 12 players saw the court for Kansas City.
The Roos close their season-long four-game road trip this Saturday, traveling to Weber State for a 3 p.m. tip off.
