Miralles Cardona Named a Summit League 'Player to Watch'

Kansas City Tennis was selected tied for fifth in the league's preseason poll
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - The Summit League officially announced the Tennis Preseason Polls and Players to Watch this morning, with Kansas City voted to a tie for the fifth position in the polls. Senior Joana Miralles Cardona was named a Player to Watch following a First Team All-League selection last year.
The poll, voted upon by the league's coaches, tabbed the Roos right alongside Oral Roberts in a tie for fifth place. This comes after last season's sixth-place finish in which KC earned a conference win over St. Thomas.
Miralles Cardona held down the No. 1 singles position for the entirety of conference play last year, putting together a 3-3 record against league opponents. She won six singles matches overall, earning spots on the All-League First Team and the Academic Honor Roll.Â
Kansas City opens the spring season at Kansas on Jan. 24 before hosting Saint Mary in Kansas City the following day, Jan. 25. In total, the Roos have five home matches on the year, including three against Summit League opponents. For the full schedule, click here.
