Alessandra Xibilia went 2-0 individually across KC's matches against Creighton, Drake
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. -- The Summit League announced Kansas City's Alessandra Xibilia as the Singles Peak Performer of the Week following a 2-0 showing this past weekend. The Palermo, Italy native has won her first Summit weekly honor in just her third week of competition as a Roo. Xibilia moves to 2-1 in individual matches across the spring dual season.Â
Xibilia starred in the No. 2 position for the Roos against Creighton as the sophomore squared off with Ana Paula Martinez of the Blue Jays. In the #2 matchup, Xibilia took the first set 6-3 but faced stiff opposition, falling 6-7 in the second set. With the match tied at one apiece, Xibilia stepped up and took the deciding third set in emphatic fashion, winning 6-2 and the match in 2-1.
Xibilia performed admirably against Drake as the sophomore took on the Bulldog's Kristina Tai in the No. 2 position matchup. Xibilia took down Tai 6-3 and grabbed a first set advantage. Set two proved to be tighter, but Xibilia gained the edge, winning 7-6 and taking the match 2-0 to get a key singles point for the Roos in Sunday's bout.Â
Kansas City returns to action on Saturday, February 21 as the Roos square off with Missouri State.Â
