A strong performance from Riley Moore and the KC backline helped the Blue and Gold earn their fourth shutout victory. In just the first eight games, Kansas City has accrued one of its best starts and held opponents to two goals.
KEY MOMENTS | HIGHLIGHTS
- 3' / 1 – 0 | The Roos earned their first corner kick of the game sending Lily Hollis out right to take the kick. Her pass connected with Amos who immediately took the shot, beating the UIC keeper in the top right corner and putting Kansas City on the board.
- 41' / 1 – 0| Kansas City obtained possession from a UIC throw-in in the Flames defensive third. Amos brought the ball down, beat a UIC defender, and launched a pass to Sydney Maddox across the field. Maddox took two touches before firing off a shot outside the 18-yard box that went just right of the goal.
- 63' / 1 – 0 | UIC's Sophia Jaime hit a well-placed shot towards the bottom left of the net, but Moore's quick reaction allowed her to make the diving save and keep the Flames scoreless.
- 85' / 1 – 0 | Brianna Castleberry carried the ball from just past center field into the UIC box, beating two UIC defenders in the process. She knocked a shot just right of the goal in one of Kansas City's strongest looks of the second half.
- Moore's clean sheet marks the eighth of her career and fourth of the season. Four shutouts in one season is a career-high for Moore. The last goal scored against her was on Aug. 18, in the final minute at Marquette.
- Kansas City's win today ties the longest unbeaten streak in program history. The Roos remained unbeaten across eight games from Sep. 19, 2014, to Oct. 24, 2014, and again from Oct. 1, 2017, to Oct. 28, 2017.
- Amos's goal makes her the eighth unique goal scorer in Kansas City this season. Last year, Kansas City finished the season with nine different goal scorers.
- Hollis's assist ties her with Kayda Kamolz and Emery Ruliffson for a team-leading three assists each on the season. As a team, Kansas City has documented 12 assists this season, just four shy of the 16 assist they finished the season with last year.
The Roos continue their travels facing Creighton (2-2-1) in Omaha on Sunday at 1 p.m.
