Roos Close Conference Play at Home Facing Denver, Oral Roberts

The Roos will look to improve their record before heading into the conference tournament
Starting Five
- The Roos will look to continue improving their record in the final two games of the season. Kansas City hosts Denver followed by Oral Roberts and currently has winning home records against both teams. Going into the matchup the Blue and Gold have found success at home going 9-5 throughout the season.Â
- Kansas City picked up its first road win of conference play over Omaha on Saturday, bringing them to three wins in conference play. Last season, the first under Coach Jackson-Durrett, the Roos finished conference play with a 3-15 record.Â
- Alyana Contreras was one of the Roos' leading scorers in the win over Omaha. She notched 15 points tying Tamia Ugass for the lead. Contreras also led the team in minutes with 32. Her 15-point appearance marks the fifteenth game this season in which Contreras has reached double digits. She is also the only Roo to average in the double-digits, averaging 10.2 per game.Â
- Freshman Emani Bennett has been another key player for the Roos during conference play. She ranks second on the team in minutes during conference play and second on the team in points earning 125 across conference. The true freshman has notched herself a place in the starting lineup, ranking second on the team in starts with 21. She has started in the last four consecutive games.Â
- This marks the second consecutive season in which the Roos have closed their season with two home games. Last year the Roos fell to SDSU (RV) and South Dakota making them the No. 10 seed going into the conference tournament.Â
- The Pioneers enter the matchup on a three-game losing streak, picking up losses against North Dakota, North Dakota State and South Dakota State. Their most recent win was against St. Thomas on Feb. 10 where they won 67-61.Â
- In the last four games, Jordan Jones has been the leading scorer for the Pioneers earning 20 points or more in each of the past four matchups. Jones notched 21 against St. Thomas, 20 against North Dakota, 24 against North Dakota State and another 21 against South Dakota. She averages 14.5 points per game.Â
- Graduate student Makayla Minett leads the Pios on defense, bringing down an average of 7.4 rebounds per game. She notched a season-high 18 rebounds against Omaha on Jan. 27.Â
Oral Roberts Notes
- Oral Roberts, like the two teams above them in the Summit League, are on a winning streak with recent wins over Omaha and South Dakota. The Golden Eagles do not have a game on Thursday and will enter Saturday's matchup fresh against Kansas City.Â
- The Golden Eagles are an offensive team with three tripple-digit wins and nine games in which they earned 90 plus points this season. Jalei Oglesby led Oral Roberts in their win over South Dakota, putting up 18 points.Â
- Kansas City and Oral Roberts faced one another in the conference opener with the Golden Eagles securing a 76-61 victory on Dec. 29.Â
