First Five
- Kansas City Men's Basketball takes a two-game winning streak on the road to Wichita State on Tuesday. Two-straight wins matches a season-best for Kansas City and a third win would be the longest since the Roos ended the 2023-24 regular season with six-straight victories.
- The Roos shot lights-out in their 85-77 victory over Bowling Green on Saturday, improving KC's record this year to 5-0 when scoring 80-plus points. Kansas City shot 59.3% from the field, a season-best 50.0% from three and knocked down 83.3% of its free throws in the win.
- Melvyn Ebonkoli scored a career-high 14 points against the Falcons, shooting 6-of-8 from the field. When Ebonkoli finds success scoring the rock, it generally means success for the Roos. He has scored 10-plus points three times this season, with KC winning all three games. On his career, the Roos are 6-0 when he reaches the double-digit mark.
- Babacar Diallo took over as the Roos' starting point guard three games ago and has provided a spark in KC's passing game. He is averaging 6.3 assists per game across the past three games after going for just 1.7 per game in the first 10 contests.
- The Roos average 9.7 steals per game as a team, ranking first in the Summit and 30th in the nation. Seven Kansas City players average over one steal per game, led by Jamar Brown's average of 1.7.
Scouting Wichita State
- Wichita State holds an 8-2 record entering Tuesday's game, but lost its most recent battle at DePaul.
- The Shockers are led by second year Head Coach Paul Mills, who was formerly at the Summit League's Oral Roberts. KC is 1-5 all-time against Mills-led teams.
- Justin Hill leads WSU's scoring efforts with an average of 14.3 points per game, ranking 12th in the American Athletic Conference.
- Quincy Ballard ranks 21st in the nation with an average of 2.11 blocks per game.
- These teams have met 10 times in the past with Wichita State holding a 7-3 all-time advantage, including a 5-1 edge in Wichita.
- The Roos' lone win at WSU came on Dec. 15, 2007, a 59-56 decision.
