Kansas City Notes
- Kansas City heads to the Summit League Championship game, held in Denver on Saturday afternoon. This marks the third-straight year that the Roos have made it to the league finals, a program record. Kansas City previously made the finals in back-to-back years once, in 2008 and 2009.
- The Roos dominated the Summit League's postseason awards lists, led by Coach of the Year Ryan Pore and Offensive Player of the Year/Newcomer of the Year Elie Kisoka. In addition to Kisoka, two players made the First Team, one made Second Team and seven were named Honorable Mention.
- Kansas City qualified to the championship game after a win in a pseudo-semifinal match against ORU. Jeremy Francou scored the game-winner and Brandon McGaugh made a career-high-tying seven saves in the win.
- Kisoka earned his spot as the Offensive Player of the Year after leading the Summit in goals, points and game-winners and ranking third in assists. He scored a goal in four of the Roos' eight Summit League contests.
- Kansas City has proved to be one of the nation's most lethal offenses, ranking top-five in the NCAA in points per game, scoring offense, total assists, total goals and total points.
- Francou has given the Roos' offense a spark in conference play, scoring a pair of goals and tallying an assist against Summit opponents. He played a season-high 61 minutes in the finale against ORU.
Denver Notes
- Denver enters the championship match on a five-game winning streak and put together a 6-0-1 record on its home turf this season.
- The Pios are led by Summit Midfielder of the Year Sam Bassett, Defender of the Year Ronan Wynne and Goalkeeper of the Year Isaac Nehme.
- KC and Denver split the season series, with each team holding serve at home. The Roos' Oct. 12 win was the program's first over a ranked opponent since 2008.
- Kansas City was the only Summit League team to score in both match ups with the Pioneers this season.
- These teams have met in four-straight league tournaments with DU holding a 1-0-2 advantage. The Roos had the last laugh in the 2023 semifinals, advancing in PKs, 3-3 (5-4).
