Kansas City excels with standout performances from Ozyurek, Henry, and Deffebaugh to secure a commanding road win.
GRAND FORKS, ND -Kansas City delivered a commanding road performance, sweeping North Dakota in straight sets (25-20, 25-22, 25-17). The Roos combined offensive efficiency, defensive dominance, and strong serving to secure the win. Sila Ozyurek shined with a .500 hitting percentage and 7 error-free kills, while Sydney Henry orchestrated the offense with 32 assists, 4 kills, 9 digs, and 3 aces. Kailee Deffebaugh added 6 kills, 5 blocks, and 2 aces, anchoring both offense and defense.

SET ONE / 25-20:
Ledisi Kpea starts strong, delivering a perfect front-court kill to give the Roos an early 1-0 lead. A powerful kill from Nyle Mathis and a follow-up by Kaliee Deffebaugh extend Kansas City's advantage to 6-3 as they work to maintain the gap. The Fighting Hawks try to keep pace, but a back-row kill from Kaia Dunford crushes their momentum, putting the Roos up 9-4.
Setter Sydney Henry takes advantage of a three-touch offensive opportunity, surprising the Fighting Hawks' defense with a crafty dump, widening the lead to 12-7. North Dakota rallies, closing the gap to 15-12, but Kansas City stays composed. Sila Ozyurek caps off the set with a stunning attack at the net, securing the Roos' 23rd point. The set wraps up 25-20 in Kansas City's favor.
SET TWO / 25-22: North Dakota started strong, but Kansas City responded with kills from Kaia Dunford and Kailee Deffebaugh to take a 4-3 lead. Sydney Henry dominated the service line with three consecutive aces, pushing the Roos ahead 7-3. North Dakota closed the gap to 10-8, but a kill from Sila Ozyurek and another ace from Kaia Dunford extended Kansas City's lead to 14-10.The Fighting Hawks fought back to make it 20-18, but timely kills by Nyle Mathis and a block from Ozyurek and Ledisi Kpea kept the Roos in control. Sydney Henry and Dunford sealed the set with key plays, securing a 25-22 win and a 2-0 match lead.
SET THREE / 25-17: North Dakota struck first, but Kaia Dunford and Sila Ozyurek kept the Roos in the game, tying it up at 4-4. A strong block by Nyle Mathis and Kailee Deffebaugh, followed by an ace from Deffebaugh, pushed Kansas City ahead 9-5. A kill by Ledisi Kpea widened the gap to 13-7, prompting a timeout by North Dakota.
Despite a brief Fighting Hawks rally to close the score to 15-13, Kansas City responded with kills from Deffebaugh and Ozyurek, pulling ahead 19-14. Another block by Mathis and Deffebaugh, along with a service ace from Blair Taylor, brought Kansas City to set point at 24-16. Ledisi Kpea sealed the set with a decisive kill, giving Kansas City the 25-17 win and the match sweep.
