Kansas City equalized just two minutes after KU's goal and earned the first result against the Jayhawks in program history
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Kansas City's Women's Soccer played a fierce game against the University of Kansas this evening, earning the first result against the Jayhawks in program history, 1-1. The Roos played with intensity, as goalkeeper Riley Moore had three paramount saves in the first half to keep KU scoreless. After Kansas scored in the 50th minute to take a lead, KC struck back just two minutes later with Brianna Castleberry's first-career goal and the game remained tied the rest of the way for a draw.

- The Roos utilized their bench with a collective 18 substitutions throughout the game, nine in each half.
- The Roos put up their first goal in program history against the Jayhawks. The teams had previously met three times since 2014, with KU outscoring KC 7-0 in those matchups.
- After entering the game with a team-leading 11 shot attempts, Castleberry was finally able to find the back of the net for her first career goal with the Roos.
- The draw gives Kansas City its first result against a Power Five opponent in the Jess Smith era, and the first overall since Sep. 14, 2018 when the Roos took down Iowa State.
