Women's Soccer Fires Off 28 Shots in Draw with USI

A season-high performance was not enough to give the Roos an edge in the final minutes
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Kansas City Women's Soccer played an explosive game against the University of Southern Indiana, firing off a season-high 28 shots. The Screaming Eagles got ahead early, but the Roos were able to stage a comeback drawing their fourth tie of the season, rounding out the 90 minutes at 1-1.
The Roos made multiple attacks close to the box resulting in 10 shots on goal. Although the Roos were scoreless in the first half, they fought back to score in the 65th minute of the second, resulting in a first-career goal for Lily Hollis. Following the goal from Hollis early in the second half, the Roos saw a handful of opportunities to take the lead but were not able to convert.

Kansas City Women's Soccer will go back on the road, traveling to Tulsa, Okla. The Roos face the Golden Hurricane on Sunday at 1 p.m. This matchup will conclude the Roos non-conference season and they will continue on the road to open Summit League play.

- 2' / 0-0 |I'yawa Brewer fired off the first shot of the night. Brewer placed the shot down the middle of the box, forcing a save from the Screaming Eagles' keeper.
- 10' / 0-0 |An attempted goal by Sydney Maddox was on target to go in, but the opposing keeper tipped the shot into the crossbar for her second save of the night.
- 34' / 0-0 | Holland Hawkins picked the ball off the Screaming Eagles and was able to fire a shot off towards the bottom left. The shot was on frame but did not find the back of the net.
- 44' / 0-1 | USI had a final push in the box before the end of the first half, getting a shot off, that found the back of the net.
- 65' / 1-1 | After a missed shot, Madison Page fought to recover the ball. Page slid the ball to Hollis, who knocked it in to tie the game.

- In the second half of the game, Hollis scored her first career goal with Kansas City Women's Soccer. Hollis's goal was her second shot of the season and her first shot on goal.
- The 28 shots fired by the Roos was not only a season-high, but also the most shots the Roos have seen in a single game since their Oct. 27, 2018 matchup against Chicago State when the Roos notched 36 shots.
- Sydney Maddox had a career-high in minutes with 77 minutes played. She earned her previous career-high of 70 minutes in the Sep. 3 matchup against UIC.
- The Roos had 10 shots on goal against the Screaming Eagles, which is the most shots on goal the Roos have earned in one game since the Nov. 2, 2019 matchup against Chicago State in which Kansas City saw 12 shots on goal.
- This was the Roos' third consecutive draw. Three straight draws is the most consecutive draws in program history.
