Partnership will increase skill development, provide fan engagement solutions and promote revenue generation
KANSAS CITY - Kansas City Athletics is proud to announce an expanded partnership with ShotTracker, utilizing features provided by the leader in sports data for the Roos' Men's and Women's Basketball programs in the upcoming season and in seasons to come.
The trailblazing partnership will focus on expanded student-athlete skill development tools, enhanced in-arena and broadcast fan engagement and increased sponsorship revenue, applying ShotTracker data and insights.
ShotTracker is the only technology that tracks both the players and the ball with sub-second latency in three dimensions. Kansas City Athletics is a technology leader in broadcast productions and sports, using one of the most powerful IT networks in the entire NCAA. That elite speed makes the Roos the perfect partner to expand the usage of data and analytics.
"We are thrilled to partner with ShotTracker on this innovative partnership," Vice Chancellor/Director of Athletics Dr. Brandon Martin said. "This partnership will elevate all facets of the basketball experience. ShotTracker's cutting-edge technology will revolutionize the way we interpret, leverage and monetize data, inevitably improving both the student-athlete and fan experiences."
ShotTracker employs the use of sensors, both on the student-athletes and inside the ball, and their technology has been adopted by Power Five conferences. The tech provides the coaches with data, insights and analytics about on-court actions in practice as well as games. Their deep-diving system tracks over 70 advanced data points, making possible new and insightful stats.
Merging the ShotTracker suite of products with the fan experience, Kansas City Athletics will become a nationwide leader in in-game entertainment. Roo fans will be the first to interact with the game while in Swinney Center or at home watching the broadcast, making predictions and playing interactive games. All will be made possible by the sub-second latency and accuracy of just a few centimeters.Â
"We are honored to partner with our own local university here in Kansas City where we are headquartered. Kansas City Athletics and their administration are pushing the envelope and driving innovation across their sports teams and the University, and we are excited to be part of these new initiatives," Davyeon Ross, Co-Founder and President of ShotTracker, said.
The Roos will integrate ShotTracker for this upcoming basketball season, one of many steps that will continue to enrich fan experience during this season and many more to come.
