Kansas City Notes
- Kansas City Men's Soccer prepares for its home opener at Durwood Soccer Stadium, still searching for the first win of the season. After a tough outing against Utah Valley to begin the season, the Roos gutted out a scoreless draw at Bradley on last Sunday.
- The Roos continue play against Missouri Valley competition, hosting Missouri State and Drake to begin a four-game home stand thaat will last through the first two weeks of September.
- After missing the 2022 season while recovering from shoulder injury, Stefano Camerlengo showed why he was named a Summit League 'Player to Watch,' making seven saves and holding Bradley scoreless. It was the second-most saves made by a Roo goalkeeper in a clean sheet effort in the past eight seasons.
- Kansas City is still looking for its first goal of the year, but newcomer Julien Le Bourdoulous has made his presence felt on the offensive end, attempting a team-high seven shots and placing two on goal.
Missouri State NotesÂ
- The Roos will have their hands full with the Bears, who are ranked No. 18 in the United Soccer Coaches poll and took down then-No. 14 Maryland in their season opener.
- MSU goalkeeper Harry Townsend was named MVC Defensive Player of the Week after the Bears' win over the Terrapins, earning the shutout and making one save on the game.
- This will mark the 30th meeting all-time between these two squads, with KC trying to snap a six-game losing streak. The last meeting was a 5-1 Bears victory on Oct. 12, 2021.
Drake Notes
- The Bulldogs are off to an 0-2 start to the season with losses to Marquette and Wisconsin, and will take on Western Illinois before Monday's meeting.
- Drake scored a pair of goals against Marquette, coming from Jackson Kirsch and JP Pascarella.
- The Roos look to avenge last season's 1-0 season-opening loss to Drake and snap an 11-game losing streak against the Bulldogs.
