Roos Wrap-Up Home Stretch with Alabama A&M and Kansas Christian

Kansas City hosts its final two home games before the start of conference play
Starting Five
- The Roos continued their winning streak with victories over Bellevue and Western Illinois. The two wins at home improve Kansas City's record in the Swinney Center to 4-1 this season. The 68-60 win over Western Illinois marked the third consecutive win for the Roos and the first time defeating the Leathernecks since Feb. 5, 2022.
- In the matchup against Bellevue, Tamia Ugass notched the Roos' first double-double of the season. She knocked down 11 points and brought down another 11 rebounds. In the following matchup, Ugass put up a season-high 19 points and two steals.
- On the offensive end, Emani Bennett has become a staple for the Blue and Gold. She has started in all six of the last six games, putting up two 20-point performances, one against Austin Peay on Nov. 24 and again in the win over Western Illinois. In the last six games, she has averaged 13.8 points per game. Along with tying her career-high of 20 points, Bennet earned another career-high, playing 39 minutes against the Leathernecks.
- Both Alabama A&M and Kansas Christian University are new opponents for the Roos. This marks the first occasion in which Kansas City has faced either team in program history.
- Assists have been a key piece for the Roos in their last two matchups with Alayna Contreras leading the effort. Contreras earned three assists against Bellevue followed by a team-high six assists against Western Illinois. Her three assists against the Bruins combined for the Roos' highest assist performance of the season with 18 assists as a team.
Alabama A&M Notes
- The Bulldogs come into the matchup off a two-game home stretch and winning streak. They faced North Alabama on Nov. 29 winning 70-57 and beating South Carolina State 62-44 on Dec. 10.
- The Roos and Bulldogs have not faced any mutual opponents, but in their next matchup Alabama A&M will Chicago State. Kansas City and Chicago State met at the Cleveland State Multi Team event and the Roos put up a dominant 77-46 victory.
- Freshman guard, Kaylah Turner leads Alabama A&M in scoring averaging 13.6 points per game and shooting 42.7% from the field and 42.3% beyond the arc.
Kansas Christian Notes
- The Falcons are looking to pick up their first win of the season and have two more games before traveling down the road to Swinney Center on Monday. They face Southwestern Adventist on Thursday and Dallas Christian on Friday.
- Laura Guillamat - Ribo the junior guard from Argentina, Spain leads the team in points, averaging 21.0 points per game. She put up a season-high 29 points in the matchup against Barclay on Dec. 1.
- Both the Roos and the Falcons have faced Ottawa this season, the Roos in an exhibition and the Falcons on October 20. Kansas City put up a 95-59 victory against the Braves in the preseason matchup. The Falcons fell to Ottawa 116-43 in just their third game of the season.
