Roos Travel to Ohio for Cleveland State Multi-Team Event

The Roos will face Chicago State, Austin Peay and host Cleveland State

- The Roos will look to add a couple of wins to their record. In the past three games, Kansas City has lost by a margin of 13 points combined. The Roos' 70-61 loss to Kansas (RV) was their largest loss of the season so far, even though the Roos outscored the Jayhawks 41-28 in the second half.
- Nariyah Simmons, the junior guard, put up a career-high performance in the Roos loss against KU. She went 4-for-8 outside the arc and to bring her to ten three-pointers on the season. Simmons tallied 34 points in the matchup, more than doubling her previous career record of 15, which she picked up against UTEP on Nov. 11.
- Kansas City put up their best free throw performance so far this season in the matchup against Kansas going 13-for-16 at the line. The Roos averaged .813 from the line a near 20% improvement from their season average prior. Â
- The Roos open play in the Cleveland State MTE against Chicago State before facing Austin Peay and Cleveland State later in the week. The last time the Roos and the Cougars faced was during the WAC tournament in March of 2020. The Roos defeated the Cougars 86-52 and advanced to play New Mexico State University, but the remainder of the tournament was canceled.
- Ifunanya Nwachukwu has been a defensive force for the Roos. She leads the team in blocks with eight, steals with five and total rebounds with 31 across the four games. Nwachukwu put up a career-high performance against Bradley on Nov. 6, bringing down 12 rebounds.
Chicago State Notes
- The Cougars will look to pick up their first win of the season during tournament play. Chicago State faces Notre Dame in South Bend on Tuesday night before their matchup with the Roos in Cleveland on Thursday.
- Tae'lor Willard leads Chicago State on the Offensive end. She has earned 53 points so far this season and averages 10.6 a game. Willard is the loan player on the Chicago State squad to average in the double-digits.
- The Roos and the Cougars have faced 48 times in program history. The Roos and the Cougars were both members of the WAC before Kansas City moved to the Summit League. The Roos currently hold the upper hand in neutral site games going 1-0.
Austin Peay Notes
- The Governors picked up their first win of the season on Nov. 14 defeating Kentucky 68-63 in Georgetown. The Governors gave the Wildcats their first loss of the season.
- Graduate center Shamarre Hale leads the Governors in both points and rebounds. She has earned 43 points so far this season averaging 10.8 a game. She has brought down 26 rebounds in the four games this season, 15 of which were on the offensive end.
- Austin Peay heads into the matchup coming off a loss against Butler University. The Governors outscored the Bulldogs 28-23 in the first half but ultimately fell to the Bulldogs 47-53. The Governors will face tournament hosts Cleveland State before facing the Roos on Friday.
Cleveland State Notes
- The Vikings head into their first matchup of the tournament on a two-game winning streak, picking up wins over Loyola 74-66 and Central Michigan 96-57. Cleveland State Austin Peay Wednesday, Chicago State Friday and Kansas City Saturday.
- Last season, the Vikings went 30-5 overall and 17-2 in conference play. They won the Horizon League conference championship over Greenbay and advanced to the NCAA tournament. The Vikings faced Villanova in the first round and fell 76-59.
