Madison Page (11') netted a goal in her first-career appearance
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Kansas City Women's Soccer opened its season at Durwood Soccer Stadium this evening, falling to Drake in a 3-1 decision that was more competitive than the final score showed. Two early goals by the Bulldogs set the tone, but the Roos battled and made Drake earn the win.
KEY MOMENTS
- 5' / 0-2 | The Bulldogs struck twice within the first five minutes, once on a corner kick and once on a free kick.
- 11' / 1-2 | The Roos' first shot of the season found the back of the net as Anna Jennings sent a ball over the Drake backline, which Madison Page chased down to score her first collegiate goal.

- 19' / 1-2 | Kansas City settled in and began to dominate possession, earning three corner kicks in a span of five minutes.
- 33' / 1-2 | A dangerous opportunity arose in the box for KC when Meghan White settled with the ball on the right side of net, pulling a right-footed shot just wide of the back post.
- 45' / 1-2 | Drake had a chance to extend its lead in the final minute of the first half, but Riley Moore sprawled out to make a save.
- 53' / 1-2 | Page had another chance at goal early in the second frame, but it was blocked by the Bulldog defense.
- 60' / 1-3 | A first shot attempt was blocked, but the second chance was put away by the Bulldogs and the deficit was extended to two once again.
- 68' / 1-3 | Anna Jennings made a run towards goal and used a slick move to create some space, putting a shot on goal that was saved by the Drake keeper.
- 77' / 1-3 | Caijah Anderson made a big tackle on the edge of the box to keep the Roos out of danger.
- 90' / 1-3 | Drake had the final scoring chance of the evening, but Moore made her third save of the day.
STATS TO NOTE
- Despite allowing two early goals, the Roos out-shot the Bulldogs 5-4 in the first half.
- Anderson, Emma Byrne and Sophia Limongi each played the full 90 minutes for KC.
- After sitting her freshman year due to injury, Page earned her first-career start and goal in the season opener.
- The Roos earned five more corner kicks than the Bulldogs, leading that category, 11-6.
